5 machines = x machines
12 days 10 days
50 = 12x
x = 25/6 or 4.11111 machines
Since machines cannot be bought this way, the answer is still 5.

If 12 then 5. If 10 then how many?
12 -> 5
10 -> x
now by forming the rate we have this
12/10=5/x
and it's not direct proportion then we have
12/10=x/5 after multiplication side to side by 10 we have
12=2*x
x=6
there are 6 machines
