Hi,

If a work is done in 4 days by A and the same work is done in 12 days by B, 

then how many days will it take to complete the work working A and B together?

   |Multiplying thru by 12x so as all denominators = 1

    3x + x = 12     | Solve for x, days it takes to complete the work together

 x/4+x/12=1

3x/12+x/12=1

4x/12=1

4x=12

x=3

They can do it in three days working together.

A will do 3/4 of the work and B will do 3/12 or 1/4 of the work.
