When Northside and southside were closed, all workers transferred to the new Eastside plant to make up its entire work force. If 50% of the 1500 employees at Eastside are minority, then how many employees did Northside and Southside have originally??

MINORITIES IN N.S PLANT = 5%..THAT IS N*5/100=N/20.....................1
MINORITIES IN S.S.PLANT = 80%...THAT IS S*80/100=4S/5.................2
BOTH WENT TO E.S.PLANT
HENCE TOTAL WORKERS = N+S=1500.................3
MINORITIES ARE = 50%.....THAT IS 1500*50/100=750
BUT FROM 1 & 2 ..750 = N/20 + 4S/5
MULTIPLYING BY 20......... N+16S=15000................4
EQN4 - EQN.3
15S=15000-1500=13500
S=900
N=600
