Question 451490: An empty swimming pool is to be filled using two hoses. The red hose, working alone, would fill the pool in 12 hours. The green hose, working alone, would fill the pool in 8 hours. Both hoses are turned on at 8:00 am. What time will the pool be full?
Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
red hose does 1/12 job in 1 hr and green hose does 1/8 job in 1 hr.
1/12 + 1/8 = 1/t
2/24 + 3/24 = 5/24
t=24/5 hrs = 4 4/5
8 + 4 4/5 = 12:48 PM
