Let x = time (hours) it takes for both
then
(x+1)(1/5) + x(1/3) = 1
multiplying both sides by 15:
(x+1)(3) + x(5) = 15
3x+3 + 5x = 15
8x+3 = 15
8x = 12
x = 1.5 hours
