elsa can complete a typing job in six hours. She was given a helper and together they finish the job in only four hours. How long would it take the helper had he worked alone
------
Elsa rate = 1/6 job/hr
Helper's rate = 1/x job/hr
Together rate = 1/4 job/hr
--------------------------------
Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
1/6 + 1/x = 1/4
---
Multiply thru by 12x to get:
2x + 12 = 3x
x = 12 hrs (time for helper to do job alone)
