Question 376233: One painter can paint a house in 40 hours and another painter can paint the same house in 35 hours. How long will it take to paint the house if they work together.
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 painter does 1/40 house per hour
The other does 1/35 per hour
Together they do 1/40 + 1/35 house per hour
= (35+40)/35*40 = 75/1400 = 3/56
3/56 houses per hour --> 56/3 hours/house
