Faucet A fills a tank in 6 minutes, and faucet B fills the same tank in 12 minutes. If they are opened together to fill the same tank, how long will it take to fill the tank?
Let x = the number of minutes it takes to fill the tank if Faucets A and B are
opened together
x(1/6 + 1/12) = 1
x(2/12 + 1/12)= 1
3x/12= 1
x = 4
It takes 4 minutes to fill the tank if Faucets A and B are opened together.
