Let x = time (hours) it takes if both men work
then
x(1/10 + 1/12) = 1
Multiplying both sides 120:
x(12 + 10) = 120
x(22) = 120
x = 120/22
x = 5.455 hours
or
x = 5 hours and 27 minutes
