Question 309529: two angles are complimentary. The larger angle is 1/5 of the smaller angle. Find the measurement of each.
Answer by alicealc(293)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
angle 1 = a
angle 2 = b

a + b = 90
b = 1/5 * a
so,
a + 1/5 * a = 90
5/5 * a + 1/5 * a = 90
6/5 * a = 90
a = 90 * 5/6
a = 450/6 = 75
b = 1/5 * a = 1/5 * 75 = 15

so, angle 1 = 75 degrees
angle 2 = 15 degrees
