Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
"Mike and John can do a job together in 12 days" ___ (12/m) + (12/j) = 1 ___ (60/m) + (60/j) = 5

"After John has worked alone 26 days, Mike finishes the job alone in 5 days" ___ (26/j) + (5/m) = 1 ___ (312/j) + (60/m) = 12

subtracting equations ___ 252/j = 7 ___ 36 = j

substituting ___ (12/36) + (12/m) = 1 ___ 12/m = 2/3 ___ 18 = m
