Question 302498: A round trip took 5 hours of flying time. The plane traveled the 720 miles to the city at 295 mi/h with no wind. How strong was the wind on the return flight?
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
travel distance without wind = 720 miles
rate = 295 mph
time taken to go = 720/295
= 2.44 hours
total time = 5 hours
return trip time = 5 -2.44= 2.56 hours
720 / 2.56= 281.25mph
The speed is reduced by 295-281.25=13.75 mph by the wind
