A man who can exert a force of 170 pounds on a pinch bar is just able to move a freight car weighing 60,000 pounds. If the pinch bar is 5 feet long and the short end is 1.25 inches from the fulcrum, what is the force exerted on the wheel of the car?

Set up a proportion:
x/170= 58.75/1.25
x=[170*58.75]/1.25=7990 pounds
