One group of workers can do a job in 8 days. After this group has worked 3 days, another group joins it and together they complete the job in 3 more days. In what time could the second group have done the job alone?

3/8 of the work was done by the first group, and 5/8 was done together.
Find rate of work together.
5/8 was done in 3 days, so 8/8 can be done in 4 and 4/5 days or 24/5 days

1/8+x=5/24

Subtract 1/8 from both sides
x=1/12

1/12y=1
y=12

Answer:
12 days
