Carlo works for 2 hours alone and then 4 hours with Bobby, so he works a total of 6 hours. Since he can do the whole job in 10 hours, he does 6/10=3/5 of the job.

That means Bobby does 2/5 of the job.

Bobby works 4 hours with Carlo and then another 6 hours alone, so he worked for a total of 10 hours.

So Bobby does 2/5 of the job in 10 hours; that means the number of hours he would need to do the whole job alone is 10/(2/5)=10(5/2)=25.

ANSWER: 25 hours for Bobby to type the manuscript alone.
