Question 1156346: Juan can paint a house in 50 hours. Joel, who owns the new Whistler 1000, can paint the same house in 30 hours. If the painters work together, how long would it take them to paint the house?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1/50) done per hour by Juan, and (1/30) of house done per hour by Joel.
x hours to do 1/1, the whole house
(x/50)+(x/30)=1
multiply by 1500 to clear fractions
30x+50x=1500=80x
x=18.75 hours
check 18.75/50 + 18.75/30=1
