Question 1145768: A ball is thrown from a height of 205 feet with an initial downward velocity of 11 ft/s. The balls height “h” (in feet) after “t” seconds is given by the following.
H=205-11t-16t squared
How long after the ball is thrown does it hit the ground?
Round to nearest hundredth

.

This moment " t " is the root of the equation H(t) = 0, which is

    -16*t^2 - 11t + 205 = 0,

or, equivalently,

     16t^2 + 11t - 205 = 0.

Solve this quadratic equation using the quadratic formula.

Choose the positive root. It will be your answer.

Having my instructions, you do the rest.
