Question 1144909: A model rocket is launched with an initial upward velocity of 151 ft/s. The rockets height “h” (in feet) after “t” seconds is given by the following. H=151t-16t squared.
Find the values of “t” for which the rockets height is 88 feet.
Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

151t -15t^2 = 88
:
-15t^2 +151t -88 = 0
:
the rocket follows the path of a parabola that curves downward, quadratic formula is
:
t = (-b + or -square root(b^2 -4ac))/2a
:
therefore there two solutions for t
:
t = (-151 +square root(151^2 -4 * -15 * -88))/(2*-15) = 0.62 seconds
:
t = (-151 -square root(151^2 -4 * -15 * -88))/(2*-15) = 9.45 seconds
