Question 1104765: It takes a woodworker 30 hours to build a cabinet that sells for $660 in the store. The store owner wants to make a profit of at least $150 on each cabinet after paying the woodworker. Write and solve an inequality that represents the hourly wages of the woodworker.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = hourly wage for the woodworker
Revenue = R(x) = 660
Cost = C(x) = 30*x
Profit = P(x) = R(x) - C(x) = 660-30x
We want the profit P(x) to be 150 or larger, so
Add 30x to both sides
Subtract 150 from both sides
Divide both sides by 30
The highest wage for the woodworker is 17 dollars per hour
