Question 1098431: Bill needs to make a large number of photocopies.Copier 1 alone can make the copies in 4 hours while copier 2 alone can complete job in 3 hours. If Bill runs the two photocopiers at once.how long will it take to complete the job?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
The rate of the Photocopier 1 is 1%2F4 of the job per hour, which means that it does 1%2F4 of the job per hour.

The rate of the Photocopier 2 is 1%2F3 of the job per hour, which means that it does 1%2F3 of the job per hour.

When the copiers work together, their combined rate of work is 1%2F4+%2B+1%2F3 = 3%2F12+%2B+4+%2F12 = 7%2F12 of the job per hour.

Therefore, it will take 12%2F7 of an hour for two copiers to complete the job working together.
