Question 1095138: Amy can paint a room in 3 hours while Tim can paint (the same sized) room in 4 hours. They join forces and decide to paint rooms together. If they charge $50 per hour for their work and will paint 481 rooms this year, how much money will they earn?
Answer by jorel1380(3719)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Amy does 1/3rd of a room per hour; while Tim does 1/4th a room per hour. Together, they do 1/3+1/4=4/12+3/12 or 7/12 rooms per hour. This means they do a whole room together in 12/7 hours
481 rooms + 12/7 hours/room=824.57 hours total
824.57 hours x $50/hour=???
