Question 1078294: Problem Page
Two cyclists start at the same point and travel in opposite directions. One cyclist travels 4 km/h faster than the other. If the two cyclists are 224km apart after 4
hours, what is the rate of each cyclist?

.
4r + 4*(r+4) = 224.

4r + 4r + 16 = 224,

8r = 224 - 16 = 208 --->  r =  = 26.

Answer. Rate of one cyclist is 26 mph. Rate the other is 26 + 4 = 30 mph.
