Let D be the distance under the question. When you drove to parents at 60 mph, you spent hours. When you drove back at 50 mph, you spent hours. The difference was 40 minutes, or of an hour. It gives you an equation = . To solve it, multiply both sides by 300. You will get 6D - 5D = 200, or D = 200. Answer. The distance was 200 miles. Check. = 4 hours. = hours. 4 hours - hour = hour. Correct !
