Under that condition, the one trench still is dug in the same 11 days. Did you really mean something else?

Throw away that given assumption and you have a more useful exercise problem.
Let r be the rate of work for ONE MAN, and expect each man works at this rate r, in the unit TRENCH per DAYS, and let t be the number of unknown days asked. The first two parts of the description will then give the system of equations,
