Question 1022903: a group agrees to share equally in the cost of Php 48,000 piece of machinery. if the group can find two more members, each member's share will decrease by Php 4,000. how many are presently in the group?
Answer by robertb(5830)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x = present number of people in the group
==> x+2 = number of people after adding two more
==>
==> after dividing both sides by 4000.
==> ==> x(x+2) = 24
==> ==> (x+6)(x-4) = 0
==> x = 4, the current number of people in the group. (-6 is unacceptable for obvious reasons.)
