Question 1009195: Carla takes 60 minutes to pick the mangoes from her backyard tree. his brother can do it 40 minutes. how long would it take them to pick together? (with checking)
Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The set up looks like this:
t/C + t/B = 1 (as in 1 job)
t/60 + t/40 = 1
Now multiply by 120 and get
2t + 3t = 120
5t = 120
t = 24 minutes
To check
24/60 + 24/40 = 2/5 + 3/5 = 1
