I do not understand this equation or how to solve for b, when I have not been given a and c. I am confused on this.

the v is a square root symbol, and the 3 is suppose to be in the indentation of the root, not directly to the side. Would the answer be that the root is not a real number? I thought if there is a negative inside the root, that is the answer, but I do not know

the v's are square root symbols and ^means it is raising to that power this is also a fraction, so it is the square root of 63xy^3 (numerator) over the square root of 9x (denominator)

Question 468785: Could someone please help me with this? I believe I am doing it correct, however have a final exam and want to be certain.
In a right triangle , find the length of the side not given
b=1, c=square root 10.
I know to use the Pythagorean Theorem but I am coming up with an answer that is not a single digit number.

Example: 6+3sqr3
I can't get a square root symbol to copy and paste. So sqr is where it should be.
Also, how do you multiply 2 square root fractions?
Example: sqr of 1/4 x sqr of 2/9
