Question 861112: I'm not sure if this is the right topic, but here is my question:
An object 5.7 feet tall casts a shadow that is 17.1 feet long. How long in feet would the shadow be for an object which is 12.9 feet tall? I am not sure how to work this problem out. Can you help me understand how to do this? My multiple choice answers are 1.5 feet, 4.3 feet, 24.3 feet, 38.7 feet.
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5.7/17.1=12.9/x
5.7/17.1 is about 6/18=1/3 so the answer should be about 3*13= 39
so it has to be 38.7
