Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Are you asking if this is an identity?

Well lets try some values

Let x=2
Plug in x=2

works

Let x=3
Plug in x=3

works

Let x=4
Plug in x=4

works

Now lets try some negative values

Let x=-2
Plug in x=-2

doesn't work. Since this equation is not true is not an identity
