The radical symbol is used for all types of roots and there an infinite number of types of roots. So the phrases "radical 8", "radical 1" and "radical 2" are meaningless. If phrases like this are used at school it can only be that you are working with only one kind of root so "radical 8" is understood to be that one kind of root. But outside your class, you must not use these phrases if you want people to understand what you are talking about. (Note: "root 8" is just as bad for the same reasons.)

Please describe the types of roots. Like "(square root of 8)" or "(cube root of 8)". Note that I put parentheses around my expression. This was done so that it is clear that it is just the 8 inside the radical. If you post something like
3 square root of 8 minus square root of 1 over square root of 2, we cannot tell if you mean

etc.

Please re-post your question describing the types of roots and using parentheses to show what is in the radicals and to show what belongs in a numerator and what belongs in a denominator.
