square root 3 * square root x + 1 = square root 3x - 5
:
Assume you mean:
Sqrt(3)* Sqrt(x) + 1 = Sqrt(3x) - 5
:
Sqrt(3x) = Sqrt(3x) - 5 - 1
Sqrt(3x) = Sqrt(3x) - 6
:
Square both sides, FOIL (Sqrt(3x) - 6)^2:
3x = 3x - 12Sqrt(3x) + 36
3x - 3x - 36 = -12Sqrt(3x)
-36 = -12Sqrt(3x)
:
Mult eq by -1, get rid of the negatives:
36 = 12Sqrt(3x)
:
Square both sides:
1296 = 144(3x)
1296 = 432x
x = 1296/433
x = 3
:
Check solution in original equation
Sqrt(3)* Sqrt(x)+ 1 = Sqrt(3x) - 5
Sqrt(3)* Sqrt(3)+ 1 = Sqrt(3*3) - 5
3 + 1 = 9 - 5
