SOLUTION: This is from adding, subtracting and dividing radical expressions.
The directions say divide and if possible multiply.
sqrt(72xy)/2*sqrt(2)
I did this 2*sqrt (72xy/2)= 2*sq

Question 659126: This is from adding, subtracting and dividing radical expressions.
The directions say divide and if possible multiply.
sqrt(72xy)/2*sqrt(2)
I did this 2*sqrt (72xy/2)= 2*sqrt(36xy)= 2*6*sqrt(xy)=12sqrt(xy)
The book says I should have 3sqrt(xy) as the answer. Is there a step I'm doing wrong?
