Question 640537: I can't send square root signs so please bare with me.

if you have an equation that has say, the square root of (x-3) -x=-3
I know you are supposed to square both sides but I'm having deciding what to do with the x? Do i move it to the other side of the equation or continue to work with it on the side with the square root. Please help. My Algebra teacher never did a problem like this in class. My homework isn't due until next Thursday (August 30th) but please respond as quickly as possible. I would really like to know what I'm doing on my homework and not fall behind.

It cancels. Also you can also write the equivalent of a square root by raising anything to the 1/2 power.
x-3-x=9
3=9
