Question 629949: I am very confused do you think someone could double check my work?
b. Suppose that an object is 200 pounds when it is at sea level. Find the value of C that makes the equation true. (Sea level is 3,963 miles from the center of the Earth.)
The equation: C=wr^2
200*3963^2
C=3141073800
c. Use the value of C you found in the previous question to determine how much the object would weigh in
i.Dead Sea, Jordon, Israel (1,388 feet below sea level, the lowest level in the world)
3963-1388/5280=0.2629
3141073800*3962.737=12447249366990.6 feet
The formula needed: Cr^-2=w
w=3141073800*3962.737^-2=200.0266

Hi,
= 3,141,073,800 Yes! or 3,141,073,800/(3963)^2 ~ 200
w when r = 1,388
= 1630.4189 Note: w will be more as r is less
Estimating Answer: ~ 3x10^9/2x10^6 = 1.5x10^3 = 1500
Re: TY Note: 1500 was just an approxiamation, which is something recommended
when dealing with large numbers...to get a 'ballpark' fiqure to compare with.
1630.4189 is the Actual weight. Round as directed. rounded to the nearest whole number would be 1630.
Yes, the idea is 'weightlessness' is something reserved for being a very... long ways above the earth's surface.
