When you divide, you subtract exponents: (a^m)/(a^n)=a^(m-n) Therefore:
(m^2/8)/(m^5/16)
m^(2/8-5/16) When you subtract fractions you need a common denominator. In this case the common denominator is 16.
m^(2*2/8*2-5/16)
m^(4/16-5/16)
m^(-1/16) Usually, the directions want no negative exponents,(The rule: a^-n=1/(a^n)):
1/(m^1/16)
