How do you solve the problem 1 diveded by the square root of 2?

You want to rationalize the denominator:
(1/sqrt(2) = ?
---
Multiply numerator and denominator by sqrt(2) to get:
----
sqrt(2)/2
OR
(1/2)sqrt(2)
---
Notice that the denominator is no longer an irrational number.
