Can you explain how to rationalize the following denominator ?
2 over 4th root radical 3.
..
2/4th root(3)
rationalizing the denominator means getting rid of the radical in the denominator.
It might help to think of a radical as an expression with fractional exponents.
4th root(3)=3^1/4
How do we get rid of the fraction?
How about multiplying it by the same base(3) with an exponent that will make the sum of the exponents =1 when multiplied together, like: 3^1/4*3^3/4=3^1=3
You got the denominator=3, but you are not finished yet. You must also multiply the numerator by 3^3/4 to get 2(3^3/4) for the numerator.
your final ans:
2(3^3/4)/3
