√x-√(x-5)=1
square both sides
x-2√(x(x-5))+x-5=1
-2√(x(x-5))+2x-5=1
-2√(x(x-5))=-2x+6
2√(x(x-5))=2x-6
square both sides again
4(x^2-5x)=4x^2-24x+36
4x^2-20x=4x^2-24x+36
4x=36
x=9 (ans)
