= x + 1
Square both sides again
2x + 3 = (x+1)^2
FOIL, the right side
2x + 3 = x^2 + 2x + 1
0 = x^2 + 2x - 2x + 1 - 3
0 = x^2 - 2
x^2 = 2
x = , only the positive value will be a solution
