2x - 1 = (x-2)(x-2) |Squaring both sides of the EQ
2x - 1 = x^2 - 4x + 4
x^2 - 6x + 5 = 0
factoring
(x-5)(x-1)= 0
(x-1)= 0 x = 1 Extraneous 3 ≠ 1
(x-5)= 0 x = 5 |
