Answer by narayaba(40)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+3 = sqrt(x^2-4x-1)
squaring both sides
(x+3)^2 = x^2 -4x - 1
using the identity (a+b)^2 = a^2 +2*a*b + b^2
x^2 + 6x + 9 = x^2 -4x -1
10x = -10
x = -1
