Question 343375: Solving Radical Equations: Solve the following equation:
(The square root is over the 8-x)
√8-x + 6 = 4 I tried but it doesnt work is it no real solution?

8-x=4-6
8-x=-2
-8 -8
-x=-10 when you plug it in it doesnt work help me
lease what am I doing wrong.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
√8-x + 6 = 4 I tried but it doesnt work is it no real solution?
-----------
8-x=4-6
8-x=-2
-8 -8
-x=-10 when you plug it in it doesnt work help me
lease what am I doing wrong.
--------------------
You are correct.
The problem has no solution.
sqrt(8-x)+6 = 4
sqrt(8-x) = -2
At this point you can conclude there is no
solution as sqrt(anything) cannot be negative.
