Question 32435: x^-2 + x^-1 divided by x^2 - x^-1 How do I determine the LCD to solve this complex fraction?
Answer by mukhopadhyay(490) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
[x^-2 + x^-1] / [x^2 - x^-1]
= [1/x^2 + 1/x]/[x^2-1/x]
= [(x+1)/x^2]/[(x^3-1)/x]
= [(x+1)/x^2][x/(x^3-1)]
= [x(x+1)]/[x^2(x^3-1)]
= (x+1)/(x^3-1)
.... Perhaps you have made a mistake copying the problem. It makes better sense if the equation was specified as x^-2 + x^-1 divided by x^-2 - x^-1
