Question 301716: I am struggling with radical expressions.
So here is the problem:
1.Many people know that the weight of an object varies on different planets, but did you know that the weight of an object on Earth also varies according to the elevation of the object? In particular, the weight of an object follows this equation: w = Cr^-2 , where C is a constant, and r is the distance that the object is from the center of Earth.
a.Solve the equation w = Cr^-2,for r.
I tried it on my own, but I am not sure if I did it correctly. Here is what I got:
w/C = r^-2
r=2√(w/C)
Now I am not sure how to type the radcial correctly but the 2 is being multiplied by the radical. It is supposed to be one of those miniture numbers at the top of the radical. Gosh I hope this makes since, I couldn't get it to copy and past correctly.
I appreciate any assistance you can provide,
Taylor

w=Cr^-2
w=C/r^2
r^2=C/w
r=sqrt(C/w)
