The volume of a sphere is
(i)
so 1/2 a sphere is
(ii)
and the volume of a cylinder is
(ii)
we know that r = 3 and h = 5, so we get
(iii)
This becomes
(iv)
or
(v)
Answer by rfer(16322) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
cylinder
V=pi*r^2*h
V=3.14*9*5
V=141.3 cu units
-----------------
half sphere
V=((pi*d^3)/6)/2
V=((3.14*216)/6)/2
V=(678.24/6)/2
V=113.04/2
V=56.62 cu units

how do i solve the volume of a half sphere and a cylinder with the radius of 3 and the height of 5
----------------------
Volume of half sphere:
(1/2)(4/3)(pi)(3^3) = 56.55 cu. units
--------------------------------------
Volume of cylinder:
Area of base: (pi)3^2 = 9(pi)
Volume of cylinder: 9(pi)*5 = 45(pi) = 141.37 cu. units
