Question 22192: (8/27)to the power of 2/3
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The "2" in your problem tells you to "square" something.
The "3" in your problem is in the denominator of your
exponent and tells you to "take the cube root" of something.
You may carry out these instructions in either order and
still get the correct answer. I'll show you how it works
both ways.
1st: (8/27)^(2/3)
squaring first you get 64/729
now taking the cube root you get 4/9
2nd: (8/27)^(2/3)
taking the cube root you get 2/3
now squaring the result you get 4/9
The 2nd way is the better way to do it because it keeps
the numbers smaller.
Good luck,
Cheers,
Stan H.
