Why not cross-multiply?
The sqrt{2x + 5} is really over 1.
12 * 1 = sqrt{5x + 6} * sqrt{2x + 5}
12 = sqrt{10x^2 + 37x + 30}
We now have a radical equation.
Raise both sides to the second power. By doing this, we remove the square root on the right side.
(12)^2 = [sqrt{10x^2 + 37x + 30}]^2
12 = 10x^2 + 37x + 30
Subtract 12 from both sides to create a quadratic equation.
0 = 10x^2 + 37x + 18
Can you solve for now x?
