Question 203024: if sqrt5x-4=sqrtx +3(not under the sqrt sign),then which of the following is true?(1)5x-4=x+3sqrtx +9(not under the sqrt sign) (2)5x-4=x+9 (3) 5x-4=x+6sqrtx +9(not under the sqrt sign). or (4) 4x-4=9. thanks so much for your help.
Answer by RAY100(1637) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
sqrt(5x-4) = sqrt(x) -3
.
square both sides
.
5x-4 = (sqrt(x) -3) (sqrt(x)-3) = x -6sqrt(x) +9
.
This is answer (3) except for sign of (-6)
.
other answers are not correct
