Question 190041: I need your help solving a radical word problem. I was given the following formula to use for this question:
W=91.4-(10.5 + 6.7^v-.045v)(457-5t)/110
The wind chill temperature is "W" (how cold the air feels). The temperature is "t" and the velocity is "v". I was asked the following question:
"Who will feel colder, a person in Minneapolis at 10 degrees F with a 15mph wind or a person in Chicago at 20 degrees F with a 25mph wind."
This is how I began to work it:
91.4-(10.5 + 6.7^15-6.75)(457-50)
91.4-(17.2 * ^8.25)(407)
Then I got lost. Can you help me with this?

This same problem came up a few weeks ago, this is what I submitted then.
:
Determine who will feel colder: a person in Minneapolis at 10 degrees F with a 15 mph wind or a person in Chicago at 20 degrees F with a 25 mph wind.
The formula:
W = 91.4-
:
Minneapolis: t=10, v=15
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4 - 109.89
:
W = -18.5 degrees wind chill
:
:
Chicago: t=20, v=25
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4-
:
W = 91.4 - 106.29
:
W = -14.88 degrees wind chill
:
It's a little colder in Minneapolis, but I doubt if one could notice it
