Question 185989: Thanks for your help on a question last week. The answer was very helpful. I just have two more. Hopefully you can show me the error of my ways.
Solve for X. I think the answer is x is not equal to 8 or -8.
(X/X^2-64)+(8/x-8)=1/x+8
My next question is:
Simplify so there are no radicals in the denominator
4/sq root of x + sq root of 2y
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve for X. I think the answer is x is not equal to 8 or -8.
(X/X^2-64)+(8/x-8)=1/x+8
------
Multiply thru by (x-8)(x+8) to get:
x + 8(x+8) = (x-8)
x + 8x + 64 = x-8
8x = -72
x = -9
------------------------------------
My next question is:
Simplify so there are no radicals in the denominator
4/sq root of x + sq root of 2y)
Multiply numerator and denominator by sqrt(x) - sqrt(2y) to get:
= [4(sqrt(x) - sqrt(2y))] / [x-2y]
